Phonebox Magazine .... How do we do it?

Phonebox Magazine is based in Olney, Buckinghamshire.

Our office is just off the Market Place, in Stanley Court, best known for the Co-op; we are nestled between them and the Spice Garden Indian Restaurant, which we visit now and again.

Upon entering the building you will see Mark, our advertising accounts manager on the right, he is normally the person you will first meet. Mark deals with all advertising enquiries and distribution requests.
Just past Mark is Graham. Graham works for Orchard Press who used to print the Phonebox but now are more concerned with your requests for general printing.
Behind Graham is Debbie, who looks after the accounts for both companies.
To the left sits Yvonne on her mac, setting copy for and designing the ads and pages in the Magazine, with the help of course, of Ron, the editor; who sits past Yvonne and next to the kitchen where he rarely misses a cup of anything that is going.
Together there is over 100 years of experience between them, but you wouldn’t guess!

Phonebox Magazine .... How did it start?

We are often asked that question, How did it all start?
When we first moved to the area, 24 years ago, we were left a list of useful numbers by the previous owners of our house. This started the seed that eventually became the Phonebox. A few years later we needed to send a leaflet out for a business we are still running, we talked to a few other traders in the town who also required leaflets and merged them all together; we wanted it to be more than just a collection of leaflets on the same sheet so put in a list of useful and emergency numbers. Someone asked us to put a notice in about an event, or perhaps the truth is I asked them if they wanted a mention in the leaflet we were producing... Anyway, to make it look more interesting we styled it on a phonebox with numbers in the windows of the phonebox and before we know it we had produced a four page A5 booklet.... or was it eight pages? You tell us!
